Summer Dining

Industrial Dining Chairs.

As a Pinterest connoisseur (slash can't look away), I've been obsessing over cool looking dining chairs lately.  I'm sick of the whole Chinese Chippendale chair, or the upholstered chair with a different fabric on the back and the front.  Not to say that those aren't great looking but I"m looking for something more right now.  Something out of the ordinary.

Lynn Morgan Design used these blue grey wicker chairs in a beach setting.

From Elle Decor, I've always loved French Bistro chairs in any form; dining and bar. They are beautifully constructed but casual and comfortable.

Look at these Macintosh inspired dining chairs in this Marrakesh interior.  They are super beautiful chairs but possibly uncomfortable.

Carrier and Company designed this soft light-filled dining room and used a French Linen fabric on the chairs.

This is a peaceful looking breakfast table in a Hollywood Hills Home.  These woven chairs look comfortable and beautiful.  Nate Berkus.

Might I have an obsession with woven chairs?  Probably.  Designed by Edwina Hunt.
I LOVE these chairs and I actually selected the side chair version for a client at my previous job at house in the Hamptons.  This Sea Island house is by Bunny Williams.
I can't wait to have my own dining room (I don't have one now), and to pick out chairs for our new home.  Whenever that is.  I think comfort is an important factor and so I'd prefer to sit in it before buying.  Also, you have to think practically.  If you have fabric, will it hide stains?  Will it be seasonally versatile?  The pictures above are mostly from summer homes so they have a less formal quality, but I prefer that actually. Which one is your favorite?

A Rainbow of Color

I think I've made is abundantly clear that I'm a lover of colors.  I wear tons of pink, green, yellow etc in my clothing and bright beautiful colors in my interiors.  Today I happened upon the NYC Pride Parade right off Union Square and of course, rainbows abound. Take a look at my pictures of the event!

There was so much spirit at the parade, it was really amazing and fun to see.  Woooo!  I've lived in NYC for 7 years (ugh) and have always missed the parade for being out of town or just plain forgetting though, I'd meant to go.   Have any of you ever been?  In terms of interior design, because I'm always thinking about it, I suppose a rainbow room would be a bit much.  Thoughts?

A New Start

Many of you may know, but I got a new job!  I love where I work now and I'm learning so much.  Again!  In my new job, we work a lot with neutrals which is a stark difference from my previous job which was crammed with bright color.  I've been looking a lot at a lot of spaces with neutrals, greys, and whites and I'm finding it very calming and fresh.

This is a nice color grey for the walls of this living room and really makes the sofa look light.  I'm completely obsessed with that wood slat light fixture though.

White walls and a grey ceiling?  I'm in.  It reminds me of a covered porch especially with that fun lantern.

I don't care for the lack of architecture here in this boxy room but the simple drapery and neutral accents win me over.

I want a bed like this when we move into our CT farmhouse and now that I'm working in CT, who knows when that will happen!?!?!

I'm loving the light shades of ivory and grey in this living room.  It opens up the space and looks so fresh.  You better not spill in here though!

Don't worry, I'll never abandon my love of color.  It's been really fun to work with greys and neutrals though, there's still plenty of color in them, believe me.  I'm learning so many new things, new paint colors, new vendors, etc.  I like the idea of light airy interiors especially now that Summer is here.  I hope you all had a nice weekend enjoying this lovely weather.  I have jury duty tomorrow morning, so wish me luck getting out of it...ew.
